Located in downtown Marfa, the new four-story Hotel Saint George project is a luxury hotel constructed atop a historic, single-story (with basement) structure built in 1930. The existing street level was renovated and transformed into the hotel lobby, a full-service restaurant and kitchen, a private dining and wine room and lease space for the Marfa Bookstore. A new three-floor structure was added atop the street level, using load-bearing metal stud panels and open-web steel floor joists. The exterior is steel framed with gypsum sheathing, waterproofing membrane, and porcelain wall panels, with plaster on the exterior panels. The hotel spans 46,900 square-feet and offers 55 guest rooms, plus a swimming pool.
