Vivian Zuluaga

Vivian Zuluaga

Risk Compliance Specialist

EHS & Risk Management – Austin, TX

Vivian’s journey into construction began with a deep passion for research, investigation, and understanding rules and regulations. During her college internship, she gained valuable hands-on experience, analyzing data to identify compliance issues and developing strategies to mitigate risks. This exposure to regulatory processes solidified her career path, and she knew she wanted to pursue a role in compliance, ensuring the smooth and lawful operations of organizations.

The best career advice Vivian ever received came from a former manager, who encouraged her to step outside her comfort zone and embrace new challenges. “Growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone,” she was advised. This insight has shaped her professional development, guiding her to take on opportunities that expand her skills and knowledge. Vivian has found that by embracing discomfort, she has grown immensely in her career.

At Jordan Foster, Vivian finds strength and encouragement through the Women’s Leadership Council. She shares, “It’s great to be part of a team that ensures women are supported and recognized within the industry.” The WLC provides a space where every woman feels valued, contributing to a unified environment where women in construction are celebrated.

Yessica Sweeney

Yessica Sweeney

Assistant Project Manager

Building Group – Dallas, TX

Yessica Sweeney’s passion for construction was sparked at a young age by her father, a commercial roofer. She would travel with him during her summer vacations, watching him interact with workers and franchise owners. Inspired by his work ethic and the respect he commanded, she knew early on that she wanted to follow in his footsteps. “I want to be like him one day,” Yessica recalls. “Each day I work is a day closer to being as great as my dad.”

The best career advice Yessica ever received was a simple yet powerful reminder: growth requires stepping outside your comfort zone. “You have to have fear to have growth,” she shares. “Feeling that discomfort means that success is on the other side.” This mindset continues to guide her as she embraces new challenges and continues to advance in her career.

At Jordan Foster, Yessica has found the support and resources necessary to grow and succeed. “JFC has a very strong support system for women in construction,” she says. “They are always making sure we have equal opportunities and giving us the resources we need to grow within the company.” Yessica’s experience with JFC has been one of mentorship and encouragement, helping her thrive in a dynamic and empowering environment.

Originally headed in a different direction, Estela found herself drawn to the industry, inspired by her father, a skilled brick mason and concrete worker. “He is a true artist in his craft, with a passion for doing a job well done,” Estela shares. Watching his dedication, she realized she wanted to stay in construction and serve the hardworking people who are the backbone of the industry, just as her father had done.

When asked about the best career advice she’s ever received, Estela reflects on the importance of perseverance and service. “The best career advice I ever received was to always put your best foot forward and focus on serving others,” she explains. “There will always be challenges, difficult people, and tough circumstances, but the only thing you can control is yourself and the effort you put in.” This approach has guided Estela throughout her career, reminding her that what you invest in your work will always come back to you.

Estela’s experience at Jordan Foster has been nothing short of transformative. “Jordan has provided me with the opportunity to truly thrive,” she says.
